I've predicted a couple things: The kitchen fire of '97, the kitchen fire of '98, the arson conviction of Luis the cook, and the termination of the hospital's "Convicts-to-Cooks" program.
Kidding? Yes, there is nothing better than blindly trusting predictions from cookies!
— Hey, you. I bet Aunt Wu told you to wear those red shoes, didn't she?
— Yeh, she said I'd be wearing red shoes when I met my true love.
— Uh-huh. And how many times have you worn those shoes since you got that fortune?
— Everyday!
— [Red with anger and frustration, yelling] THEN OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO COME TRUE!
— Really? You think so? I'm so excited!
— Oh, I forgot to give you, your birthday present. Remember your wish?
— An answer!
— Yeah.
— That's great.
— Yeah, gets greater. Go on, go ahead. Try it. «Yes» or «No» questions.
— OK, hmmm... Eight ball, is there an Interstate 60?
Magic 8 ball: — There is for you, Neal. Turn right at the stop sign.
— I told you, it'd get greater.
— What are you staring at?
— Are you really going to grow a mustache?
— I thought about it. Why?
— He has! Tranche-Montagne, I love you! She was right.
— Who?
— I saw a fortune-teller.
— The competition?
— She's a real one.
— And you believed her?
— I believe in cards, horoscopes, tarot, the stars, palmistry, God, the Blessed Virgin.
When you fly above New York at night it's like you're looking down at millions of stars. And each star could be the life of a person who calls this great city home. My Dad told me that people have always looked at the patterns of the stars to predict what was going to happen in their lives, and if you could understand those patterns, you'd be able to know what was gonna happen before anyone else did.
"Praise the Lamb, conduit to great power, promised liberator of the One that Waits below".
…so the cards showed me, once. Many lifetimes ago. (Or has that yet to be?)
I have always drawn your cards, Lamb. And yet, this is the first.
Take these cards, and I will draw another each time we meet. When drawn by me, they will grant you power.
What power? Well, that is both known and unfathomable. The cards, they shall decide.
